Who the training course is for
The Fire Safety Awareness training course is primarily for staff in non-managerial roles - those with less responsibility than the appointed Fire Wardens (or Marshals).
The objective of the course
The purpose of this course is to provide staff awareness of fire safety procedures and how to reduce fire risks. By doing so, employers fulfil their obligations under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
What you'll learn
Our comprehensive Fire Safety Awareness course covers the following topics:
- Who is responsible for Fire Safety?
- An overview of current legislation
- Principles of combustion and flame spread
- Correct indentification and selection of extinguishers
- Identifying fire hazards
- Types and meanings of fire safety signs
- Action in the event of fire
- Raising and responding to the Fire Alarm
- Choosing and using firefighting equipment
- Practical fire extinguisher use where appropriate
The course outcome
Our aim is to ensure that your staff are educated and leave the course with knowledge and confidence that will prove effective in the case of an emergency. Our classroom style sessions include PowerPoint and video presentations for visual aids and short written tests are provided where appropriate.
A group certificate will be issued free of charge listing the names of attendees. Alternatively
individual certificates may be provided at an additional cost

How long is the training course?
The session will normally last between 2 ½ - 3 hours depending on numbers.
We also offer a shortened version of the course that is limited to 1½ - 2 hour training time. This option is ideal for employers wishing to fulfil obligations to provide basic training, but where time is short.
Where does the course take place?
We are flexible on location and happy to arrange the course at your premises or our own Didcot facility.
